23. The ratio between the present ages of P and Q is 6 : 7. If Q is 4 years old than P, what will be the ratio of the ages of P and Q after 4 years?

  C.  4 : 3
  D.  7 : 8
Solution
Let P's age and Q's age be 6x years and 7x years respectively.
Then,7x - 6x
‹=› x=4.
Required ratio =(6x+4) : (7x+4)
= 28 : 32
= 7 : 8.

24. At present, the ratio between the ages of Kamal and Murugan is 4 : 3. After 6 years, Arun's age will be 26 years. What is the age of Deepak at present?
  A.  12 years
  B.  13 years
  C.  14 years
  D.  15 years
Solution
Let the present ages of Kamal and Murugan be 4x years and 3x years respectively. Then,
‹=›4x + 6 = 26 ‹=›4x = 20
‹=› x = 5.
∴Deepak's age = 3x = 15 years.
